今宵は月を愛でて

　今夜は仲秋の名月。こんなにきれいに晴れた、それだけで何かありがたい感じがしてくる。いいことがありそうな。ものみな治まりますようにと願う気持ちが湧いてくる。月の光は静かに静かに降り注ぐ。

　十五夜にちなんでということで「How High the Moon」。エラ・フィッツジェラルドとトミーフラナガンのデュオである。録音スタジオでしみじみと歌っている。灰皿から煙草の煙が・・・。ゆったりとした時代だったんだなあ。

　1939年に作られ、'40年にヒットした。第二次世界大戦中のロンドンが舞台だという。澄みわたる月の夜は空襲にもってこいで　"Bomber's Moon"　とも言われたというから、恋の歌とは言っても戦中のこと、ままならない思いを込めた複雑なものかもしれない。
